March into Fabric

At our March meeting in honor of National Quilt Day March 15 - we will be making charity pillowcases and playing a game with fabric.  Bring your machines and the following.

1. For the pillow case you will need:

3/4 yard of main fabric - either modern or kid friendly
1/4 yd of coordinating fabric for cuff
2 in strip of contrast fabric for trim.

If you haven't made this easy "burrito" style before you can find it on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrYWCma9wgM

2.  For our game bring 8 -  eight inch squares of gray fabric - these can be all the same  or several different  fabrics.  We will provide squares of the Pantone Color of the Year - Radiant Orchid.
Once everyone wins some fabric we will challenge ourselves to make something small with their squares.  Be prepared to laugh & trade fabric for a fun evening.  Everyone wins!

See you Thursday March 13 @ 6:30

  1. I watched the youtube video & was surprised how easy it is to make a pillowcase! I don't know why I haven't done this yet...I'm looking forward to seeing all the cute fabrics all of you bring.

  2. Also in honor of National Quilt Day, come up to Kenosha and stop into the Kenosha Public Museum http://www.kenosha.org/wp-museum/ and see the quilts on display by the Southport Quilters Guild. We'll have demonstrations going on all over the museum, including a kids activity of designing a quilt. The show runs till March 30th.
